Cotton Blankets

I was asked by a customer who although loved our range of blankets was unable to use them as she suffered from eczema, aggravated by the lanolin in wool. After much searching and research, we have found these wonderful 100% cotton throw, made in Britain.

Cotton has been grown for thousands of years for use as food, fibre and even fuel.It can be found in such things as cooking oil, animal feed, biofuels, paper even US currency but of course we are only interested in its use as a natural fibre.

Grown from a shrub predominantly in tropical and sub-tropical regions cotton is a soft, fluffy fibre that grows in a boll, or protective case, around the seeds of the plant. The fibre is separated from the seeds and then follows a similar process to that of wool fibre, being cleaned, picked, carded etc until moving onto the final spinning process.

Recommended by the National Eczema Society, cotton is soft, cool, absorbs sweat, easily washable and allows skin the ‘breathe’.The perfect choice for those with sensitive skin.

And if you’re concerned about the environmental impact, cotton uses less energy during processing than man-made fibres such as polyester and rayon, it doesn’t release any microplastics into our waterways, it’s sustainable, recyclable and 100% biodegradable.
